Im letzten Semester habe ich mich zum Thema Gewalt in Computer- und Videospielen schon mit dem Spiel "Bloodrayne" für das von mir besuchte Seminar "Konvergenz von Computerspielen und Kunst" auseinandergesetzt. Und wie es der Zufall so will, ist ein Freund von mir ein Fan von dem Spiel. Ehrlicherweise muss ich zugeben, war er es, der mich auf das Spiel für mein Referat aufmerksam gemacht hat. So habe ich die Möglichkeit, bevor ich auch nur einziges Level selbst gespielt habe, mich mit Bloodrayne, durch die Beschreibungen zu Spielsteuerung, -inhalten und -besonderheiten durch die Spielerfahrungen eines Anderen auseinanderzusetzen. Blood is thicker than water! And I really love my family. But what happens when the own mother has a new man? A man who has no children of its own. There is not the same blood that runs through your veins. There is not even the same water that runs through your throats. So how much can he tell you? How much will you listen? How much do you care about the influence he has on your mother? When will you stop to try to satisfy him? I had to listen to him - again: "We never get anything done right. We are always unprepared. We are always late. We only call when we need something." What a charming mood for Christmas - a celebration of family and love. Lucky me that Christmas has only two holidays! And I only saw him on one of them. ;)

Well well well... It's hard. It's action. It's not rescuing the world. It's an untypical soundtrack. It's a lot of great camerawork but even more cutting. Sometimes less is more but I enjoyed the cinema as event itself. ... You should watch the film and decide for yourself. ;)

Nachtrag zu Jüngers Gartenabhandlung: Das Tropical Island ist ein Gartenformat von heute, was ins Extreme ausartet. Ausgeschlossen von der natürlichen Umwelt, unterwirft man die Pflanzen einem beliebig wählbaren Klima. Die Mechanisierung auf die auch Friedrich Georg Jünger am Ende seines Aufsatzes verweist, tritt hier deutlich zu Tage.

I guess - right now - there is nothing much to talk about than the voting for the new US president! Even if I would try I will not even close have a clue how many people around the world want to know who will sit in the oval office for the next four years. If not even the US citizens themself have been aware of the gigantic interest in the polling day of their own population. And as I click through all the pictures and articles I can feel a rising excitement myself. It's amazing that people are waiting in line to vote. Why is it that there are so many troubles with electoral lists and ballot papers? Why does one of my profs thinks we are going to election parties? The hosts on "Radio1" are so fevered that something goes not as planned all the time. It took my laptop about 30seconds! to load the Barack Obama Website . I have friends who will watch the live TV coverage. etc... Well since I got a lot to read and to think about besides the biggest popstar in the political wo...

Four days and eight hours to go ... then I will finally watch the new James Bond Quantum of Solace . Can't wait!

I got back from a small party only a few minutes ago. I was celebrating that an old schoolfriend moved back to Potsdam after three years working somewhere south in Germany. She invited six very good friends for dinner... she had delicious food, good wine; looots of good wine. =) Just right before that I was chatting for over an hour with a guy I once gave private lessons to. The reason why I am telling you this is because I had the chance to experience again how wonderful the brain works... simply keep talking, listening, enjoying yourself and many sweet memories will come back to you! Without asking - but very realistic. Like a dream! I like it.

Something is strange with the whole concept of birthday parties. I am sitting here - freezing - thinking and planning my "brain off" simply for entertaining und pleasing my family. Don't get me wrong I love my family . But instead of wondering what would please THEM on MY birthday THEY should think about how I can be comforted as much as possible and don't have to worry about a thing. Sweet sweet childhood. Well I guess these times are so over.

Jedoch geht es nicht um die Obsession eines Einzelnen, sondern einer ganzen Epoche. Ganz oder gar nicht. Im 19. Jahrhundert stand (bekanntlich!) die Geschichte im Mittelpunkt: "Entwicklung und Stillstand, die Akkumulation der Vergangenheit, die Überlast der Toten " . Wohingegen wir uns jetzt in einer Epoche des Raumes befinden sollen. Foucault schreibt dazu: "Wir sind, glaube ich, in einem Moment, wo sich die Welt weniger als ein großes sich durch die Zeit entwickelndes Leben erfährt, sondern eher als ein Netz , da seine Punkte verknüpft und sein Gewirr durchkreuzt." I just learned that Galilei was born in the 16th century in Italy (1564 in Pisa, to be specific). In 1616 his doctrine was forbidden by the church. For 16 years he did not publish anything after that until he came up with his Dialogo . Unfortunalety it did not last 16 months that he had to deal with the inquisition but close enough (happened in 1633). A lof of 16s for one person. =) That simply leaves me to say: "Eppur' si muove!"

Zum Problem der Beschreibung und Inhaltsdeutung von Werken der bildenden Kunst (Logos, 21, 1932, 103-119) Der Aufsatz versucht Ikonographie zu erläutern und hermeneutisch zu begründen. Laut Herausgeber ist der Aufsatz in seiner erweiterten Fassung weltweit als programmatische methodische Grundlegung der Ikonographie und Ikonologie rezipiert worden. Die Problematik der kunsthistorischen Deutungsarbeit wird dabei in drei Gegenstände der Interpretation gesplittet: 1.Phänomensinn (nochmals unterteilt in Sach- und Ausdruckssinn), 2. Bedeutungssinn und 3. Dokumentationssinn (Wesenssinn). Wobei Interpretation ansich schon als problematisch ausgewiesen wird, Panofsky bezieht sich dabei auf Heidegger und den Moment der Gewalt, der jeglicher Interpretation angetan wird/werden muss. I do not want to deprive you this wonderful video . It amazingly outlines my Sunday / everyday trouble: Procrastination! One of my most esteemed online friends showed it to me. I guess he agrees to my further publication.

Actually today I wanted to read a lot of stuff for my courses, e.g.  'Gesellschaftsstruktur und Semantik' by Niklas Luhmann and 'Auf dem Wege zu einer Historischen Kulturwissenschaft' by Otto Gerhard Oexle. But I believe I am cursed or doomed or maybe simply hopeless. I got up early for a Sunday - something around 9:30am. I made myself a solid breakfast and decided to watch 'Hellboy' (2004) . As soon as the movie was over I found myself sitting in front of my laptop, writing a mail, ordering pics, starting 'Pulp Fiction' (1994) after that 'Vertigo' (1958) unfortunalety the DVD wasn't really working so I came up with an alternative 'Blade Trinity' (2004) what surely wasn't my best decision for today, but I couldn't help it. End of story: I never really left my bed all day long.   Mea culpa!  

I guess since I started a blog I should post something. So here we go: For those who found their way to my blog - invited or by chance: I very welcome you.  Last week I've been to a small festival in Potsdam that was organized by some of my fellow students. It was called 'Localize - Das Heimatfestival' and it was all about home. Is there such thing? How do we create it? What depends on it? What makes our every day life special? Are we aware of our surrounding? That (and a lot more) made me think about my days and how much time I spent in front of a computer. Not only working on it but writing mails, chatting, looking for news, searching through bulletin boards, shopping, reading blogs, amuse myself with funny videos, pictures and who knows what else. So I guess my life is pretty much virtual and I decided to start my own blog to try to visualise this part of me. And since I'm always afraid of writing something down I really need to practice putting my thoughts into tex...
